Emergency Call Out in Thorpe St Andrew
Yesterday afternoon, I received a phone call from a customer for an emergency coffee stain removal from a woollen weave carpet. The customer had spilt the coffee in the morning so it had by now, completely dried out and set in. The customer had tried and failed to remove the stain so called us for our professional help. Right next to the coffee stain was a large brown stain caused by a radiator leak many years previously which the customer had given up on. I was also introduced to an old coffee stain in the bedroom and a small rust spot under a radiator valve in the hall.
Coffee Stain Removal from Carpet
The carpet was light in colour, so was suitable for a bleaching agent to assist with stain removal. I was able to remove both of the coffee stains using a combination of coffee stain remover and a bleaching agent. Unfortunately, the leaky radiator stain refused to respond to the carpet bleaching agent. Had the browning been caused by a hessian or jute backing, the browning wicking up through the carpet, it would have responded. So what was the most likely cause of the stain? Answer: Rust.
Rust Stain Removal from Carpet
So how do you remove of a rust stain from carpet? Well I use a Prochem product called Rust Remover. Trying rust remover on a little test patch showed some promise. So after spraying Rust Remover over the area and leaving it to do it's job, I was able to remove the old rust stain which was many years old. The product was then extracted using our hot water extraction carpet cleaning machine.
Result: One more surprised and very happy Norwich customer.
